GeoMimetica
As a first example of a natural planetary process enhanced through engineering, this
site sets out a patented wind energy production that drives oceanic carbon
sequestration via the biological pump. Reviewed are design, scaleability,
manufacturing, 10 and 100 year economics.
Why now? The cost of anthropogenic climate change is expect to be $70 - 100 Trillion
US globally over the next 30 years, not including the indirect costs of political and
demographic instability and lost opportunities. Just to be clear, the level of carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere is more than 25% higher than it has been in 800,000 years
and rising like a rocket. Global mean temperature is tracking this increase, so that
discussions of a 2 or 4 degree temperature rise are just the beginning. While the
economics of carbon credits remain uncertain, energy continues to be a commodity
that is universally accepted as marketable. Carbon sequestration can be considered to
be a by-product of energy production via the GeoMimetic process.
